PAGUE - PRAHA - PRAG
Prague - the golden city, the capital city of the Czech-Republic. We often passed on our way from Dresden to Vienna this city but we hardly saw more than the highway.
What a big mistake.
This vibrant city shows us today how the big cities 100 years ago might have looked. The central districts thrills us with renovated buildings - dominating Art Deco - and (contemporary) history in all corners. To describe the many sights we would have to write a new travel guide - for lets say two days the main spots would be from our point of view:
- Hradschin - the Prague Castle and the district around (don't miss St. Georgs church where you can see romanic stile without disturbance of other stiles)
- Charles bridge ... take fotos in the early morning before the tourists are coming ...
- Karlova - shopping and eating ....
- Josefov - Jewish disctrict
- Old town square (e.g. Astronomical Clock)
For jazz lovers this town is simply heaven. In every corner someone is playing Dixieland on the streets or in restaurants. On our first tour around the city we found at least three interesting clubs where we will report in the next couple of months. Remember for the evening and night program:
Reduta Jazz Club: established in 1958 and it is said to be the oldest and most famous Jazz Club in town. Live Jazz every day in the year - from Dixieland to Modern Jazz.....
AghaRTA: the organizer of the Praha Jazz Festival and the Jazz Centrum. Located in the old town also brings every day live Jazz in historical atmosphere of a cellar of the 14th century.
JazzDock: the latest "offer" of the Prague's music scene which is located in a newly- built modern building and offers an interesting new concept of club, a futuristic bar and a lot more ....
Jazz&Blues Club UNGELT: Open for different music styles this club offers also Jazz and JazzFunk all days a week ...
If all that is not enough for you we could maybe offer you a ride on the Jazz Boat - a "three sense project": listening to live Jazz - tasting culinary Gourmet dinners - look best way to see the city ... Maybe nothing for purists but maybe an interesting opportunity to combine family with hobby???! Every day a different jazz style.
