The Winter edition of the Festival is always a pleasure - here again the whole city is covered with locals & tourists and music in every corner. Again the Brass Band "FUNK OFF" celebrates her music in the narrow streets followed by all the enthusaists. The difference to Perugia (summer edition) is that the locations are even smaller and the atmosphere is in all locations very, very intimtate. The largest concert hall is in Palazzo del Popolo  the Sala dei 400 with maximum 300 people. 

All the musicians performing every day during the 5 days festival around New Years Eve on different places - simply great to either get the chance to see them in different locations day by day or to get a nice overview of the whole set up in different concerts all over the day.

The only disadvantage - at least End of 2012 - from our point was that the major focus of the musicians have been again US stars: Kurt Elling, Gregory Porter, Dee Alexander. The local, European musicians are only the minority. Neverteless the musicians were all great and we are looking forward to next year.

JazzUmbria Summer, Perugia

Summer 2012 are until now announced: Pat Metheny, Sonny Rollins, John Scofiled, Enrico Rava, Stefano Bollani and more ....

He historical Perugia Is not hosting musicians, the whole town IS JAZZ. During the whole day free concerts in all corners of the historical part are taking place and on top main musicians from all over the world are playing from the afternoon to the early morning in one of the two theaters, in the open air arena or in one of the hotels. You cannot get closer to guys like here.
